How narrow minded these educated people are

I delibrately wanted to write this one as, this incident is urging my mind & heart since yesterday. I live in an well known flats at OMR ,Chennai. Almost thr r 20 houses in this flats. Everyday an old man of age around 70 comes to almost every house here and sells leafy vegetables like Spinach, Drumstick leaves, coriander, curry leaves etc. Anything tats good for health n home delivered is always a good charm for us. So, she was a regular visitor. Recently a new association was formed in the apartment n thy threw many new rules. This old man, is welknwn to me. So, he spends lil time at my home either talking to me or to my mom, telling us abt his own life. I knw how poor he is and i respect his hardwork, so wenever I see him anywere, how much ever i get in hand, like either 20, 50 or 100 bucks, i give him. I keep this as a habit. he too happily accepts it as he alwys treats me as his son n pampers me. he often worries abt my health, (Corporate late works) n brings some good spl green vegetables for me to have. So,it was a kinda loving relation we had between us. But recently he stopped coming to our house n cudnt find him anywere in the apartment too. Yesterday morning, while on my way to office, I found him sitting along the roadside. Was happy to see him back again cas, my mind was thinking something else abt him. When, i asked abt his absence,he immediately started weeping n told me tat, its our apartment association officials who told him not to come hereafter. ""Thy said, I should not use d lift to sell vegetables, for which the residents have to d pay electricity bill along with their house maintanence. So,thy told me if I want to sell my things I shud use the staircase. If not,tat wud be the last day for me to enter into the apartment.U tell me, how can I climb all the 7 floors. Now my income is completely gone. Am sick n my son is not taking care of me as i cudnot give him a penny for past a week. Dono y still God is letting me stay in this ugly world??."" Hearing all these just hurted me very badly. I gave sum money for him to get medicines and left for d office. Afterall I knw i cannot do anything in this. But tat disturbed me a lot. Cursed God for d lack of humanity even amidst well educated people. Rules can be rules.. But tat shud not stand b4 humanity. Our apartment kids use theses lifts for playing hide n seek n to go up n down just for fun. Tats just a moment of happiness for the children. But for this old man its his life , its his bread… Y don these people understand this..Cant we pay a mere amount as common electricity bill for others to let them live in this world???

How narrow we humans are. ??? So how do we deal with these type of people?

Sambho Shiva Sambho @ 6000 FT

On the night of Maha Shivaratri, I had a first time opportunity to trek Velliangiri hills. I was so apprehensive with many questions to myself- will I be able to climb such a tall mountain(6000 Ft Height)? Whether the mountain has riskiest cliffs? Will my foot bear the barefoot walking? Somehow I decided to climb the hills. Believe it - I enjoyed the climbing and after climbing down, I decided to come again to get the lovely experience. Great Experience!!!!!

The Vellingiri Hill temple is situated some 40 kilometers away from Coimbatore city, Tamil Nadu. The temple is purely dedicated to lord Siva and the overall altitude of the hill is 6000 feet. The Vellingiri hill temple is considered to be the most famous worship place and a massive tourists group visits the hill temple to make their prayers.

Moreover the hill is familiar for its extravagant natural resources. People can find several different essential rare herbs grown on the hill, which could be used for medication. The Vellingiri hill temple has the deity of lord Shiva, and people visiting the temple can sense the pleasing atmosphere to worship.

Velliangiri Hills count amongst the lesser-known hill stations of Tamilnadu. Of all the mountain shrines in Kongunadu, the Siva temple of Velliangiri in the western boundary is considered to be the most famous. Known as Rajathagiri, Velliangiri, Dakshin Kailash or Bhoolok Kailash, this sacred spot, according to legend, is where Siva performed his cosmic dance on the request of his consort Umadevi. The five faces of Lord Shiva, Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, Maheshwara and Sadasiva, are seen as Panchagiri and as Panchalingas pertaining to the panchabhutas, in Velliangiri. The hill ranges have abundant natural resources, which include rare herbs. Lord Panchalingesa and his Consort Manonmani Amman alias Parvathi, bestow their grace on the devotees who throng here annually between February and May.

About halfway up, I could feel the air become thinner and despite being reasonably athletic, my legs had turned to rubber. There were at least four hours of steady climbing left. “I don’t think I can make it,” my mind murmured. Then I remembered the mantra Sadhguru told us about. “Shee-va, Sham-bho, Shee-va, Sham-bho…,” I began chanting quietly to myself. I plodded on with slow, baby steps, ceaselessly chanting. I was committed not to stop even if it meant arriving in the middle of the night.

Climbing down in the dark is really a challenge. There are many small stones and you may always end up stamping it and get hurt. Your thighs, joints will be worst affected. But believe me - all these will be cured in a week's time. You would start longing for next trip!

My eyes were filled with tears when i submitted myself to lord shiva..!!

Wonderful Experience at 6000 FT.

Moore Market Nostalgia

Are you a chennaite? Do you proudly claim yourself a bookworm? Do you love to own books, but having hard time in spending money for books in expensive shops? Does the lack of libraries hinder your reading habit? Then certainly, Moore market is the place you need to hit. It is a commercial building complex situated near the Chennai suburban railway station in park town. I can safely bet that it is one of the perfect place in Chennai to buy books at the least price.

If you expect Moore market (MM) to be filled with cool and hippy bookstores like Landmarks, Crosswords, Higgins bothams then you will be disappointed. On the contrary, MM is a gloomy mall packed with several small stores, which primarily offers old/new/pirated books with endless list of collections ranging from classics, comics, fictions, non-fictions,(auto)biographies, magazines, school/college text books……..etc. There is no fixed price for any of these books. The price purely depends on the buyers bargaining skills.

Once at a store, while searching for one of the books, my heart skipped a beat when I saw a new copy of The Twilight Saga Collection  available for a price lesser than 1/3 rd of what I had seen in Amazon/Infibeam (online shopping). Therefore, if you are lucky, you can get MK Gandhi’s -“My Experiments with truth” (old edition) for 20/rs. Some of the books can be bought at the same price that a lending library charges for its readers. Therefore, with MM, now you can own a book at the same price you spend for borrowing!. If you don’t want to keep the book, you can always return the books to the owners and get half of the money refunded.

The average size of each bookstore is very small; hardly two or three can stand inside the shop. Nevertheless, it does not matter as long I remain patience and get a good book with reasonable price. The shopkeepers are helpful. Though they don’t look erudite, they are certainly well experienced about the books, which helps the buyers to find their choice amidst the heap of books. One of the drawbacks with MM is that most of the new releases will be available only as pirated books. These pirated books will peep out in the book stores immediately with in a week of release date (I wonder how they could do it so quickly). Unable to cease my temptation sometimes I end up buying pirated copy.

I am an avid reader and I love to own the books I read. If not Moore market, my dream of owing a library in the future would be shattered at its budding stage due to the lack of budget. Any rational mind would refuse to believe the dream of collecting thousands of books, if a single Harry potter book sucks around 700/rs from the reader’s pocket. I don’t blame the publishers, but it is impossible for those with moderate family income to buy all the books they love to read. For them, MM could be a heaven!

Though the MM stores lacks the trendy appeal, certainly it has it’s own charm which keeps it’s murky stores still thronged with book lovers like me !!!. Besides the books stores, Moore market is also famous for its aquarium & fish shops, birdcages, antiques and odd electronic items.
