Bike Ride to Yelagiri

One thing is for sure, the IT crowd are sleazed up for a weekend getaway. Be it a bike ride or a cab ride, they are game for it. What is has lead to is a spring leap in the prices in the hill stations and sprouts of new resorts all over. I am documenting my bike ride trip to elagiri.

Elagiri, has clean air for starters. It has two lakes. One with a park annex and the other with a boating annex. There are numerous resorts here, but I guess many operate at capacity during the weekends with reservations in place. It is better to make a reservation since value added services may be much needed in a place like elagiri which has little to offer.

We(Sathish, Venkat and Me) started from Chennai early (around 5) in our bikes( not to forget , had a cigarette near Chennai Trade Centre. My friend Venkat was like a Robber wore black mask full in his face). We were able to make it to Vellore easily by 9:30. Not to forget the cigarettes, boarding and Photo shoots;).Not to forget the quality of the roads throught, worldclass. I was wondering how many people were roped in to compelete such a humongous task. We took a torn narrow road to the foothills of Elagiri. Our Bikes was crusing and required some skilful thrust to take our heavy ass over the hills.

Once there, we skipped one hotel to another and finally ended up with no place to take us in. Lunch time and everyone was too tired to complain about anything. We finally ended up in a starter hotel which didn't host a restaurant. We were glad that atleast we were able to find some place, TV with regional content and western toilets = no complaints. In fact it was a bit cozy enough. We were starving and went to a nearby restaurant called Nigeeris. The turnaround time was more than 45 minutes. The loud voices grew dull, and the laughs sunk into snickers. The quality of the food was OK though and an unexpected change in climate. Pleasant surprise . We had a quick rounds of photos and headed to the nearby lake(Yes, as u all know me and sathish had Fags and Venkat was busy all the time with his Girl Friend in phone).

We thought of heading into the lake and suddenly it got reminded us that we bought Liquors. Heavy enough for us to experiment and try the other lake in the other corner of the village. We went in and checked that it is not really a lake but a tank collecting water from the draining rain water. We headed back to the bigger lake near the restaurant and barged in. The lake is and by far the only place to visit in Elagiri, so spotted many tourists. The boating is comparable to that of Kodaikanal or of wayanad. Heard the lake is more than 40 feet deep or so. And Again lots of photo shoot and time for SARAKKU. We spent more than three hours in room. Spirits were high and snacks were flowing. No big debates and no dirty hussle - everybody settled .The night dragged and we ordered food from YELAGIRI to close in the meal chapter for the day. We then roamed in the streets and then in the terrace - tried to put up conversations which didn't really start. To the rooms again and we ended up in our bed gazing at our television screen for the remaining part of the day.

There you go and thats it regarding the tour plan. Now heading back home. As decided we stopped at Vellore - Aarthi hotel. Treating customers was really bad there and had our Breakfast (No TIPS). Not to forget we rode bike like a superstar. I have to close this with a wry smile on how I got back home. On the highway we came to the city's entry point in 3 1/2 hrs and headed to the home made us another one hour - with that sort of fatigue it was just the few good moments that I had, carried me home with Joy.

Riding a Bike is an art and we three had very good time there..! (Forgot to mention, we went there in Pulsar, Apache RTR 180 and Yamaha FZ)

It was my birthday..!!!

Yes, Monday was my birthday and I'm realizing that I'm getting more and more alone in this world. It's not that nobody called me or sent me emails, it's just that I've realized that I've been ignoring my friends for too long. I said I planned to email them more often, but it's not happening as much as I wanted. Most of the reason is that I just haven't had much private time lately. And this is slowly killing me, but bound to change soon.

Maybe that's why when I checked book suggestions simply in Google, I received the following book suggestions:

Final Gifts : Understanding the Special Awareness, Needs, and Communications of the Dying

Who Dies? : An Investigation of Conscious Living and Conscious Dying

The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying: The Spiritual Classic & International Bestseller; Revised and Updated Edition

Very creepy...Isn't it...??

Anyway, thank you everybody that wished me a happy birthday. I am going to be replying to your emails soon ..!!!

Cheers,

VIP Vulgarity ..

India is truly making its presence felt on the global scene, be it in industrialization, development, education, sports and now SEX. If the US had a Bill Clinton, Italy had a Silvio Berlusconi, India's answer is Narayan Dutt Tiwari, an 85 year-old funster whose escapades have made headlines and rung the deathknell for his political career too.

Narayan Dutt Tiwari, one of the old war horses of the Congress, has finally been sent to the stables, horseshoes removed. At the ripe old age of 86, he has revealed a streak that tells the world that the land of Kamasutra has not lost its vigour and more behind closed doors. But, more than that, he has reopened the debate on whether private lives of politicians should be open to scrutiny.

For decades there has been an unspoken understanding between the media and politicians that their private lives will not be hung out in the open for all to see. The standard argument is that what they do in their bedrooms is nobody's business. No one can fault this line about privacy. Indians are largely indifferent to this aspect of the demeanor of India's politicians since nothing really damaging about them has ever been revealed by mainstream media. But all that may change now, thanks to a Telugu TV channel, ABN Andhra Jyothi.

If Raj Bhavans and other government bungalows are being openly used by politicians to entertain themselves and their friends with call girls and social birds, then why should the media carry out sting operations to round up the latter up only when they are plying the same trade with ordinary Indians elsewhere? How can the real breaking news remain no news and the insignificant news be routinely treated as breaking?

Permissive Americans are surprisingly moral when it comes to their leaders. The reason, as we all know, is straightforward. They expect those who lead their nation to possess the strength of character that they believe is required for the job. A man who breaks the trust of his wife cannot be trusted to not break that of America. It is not about sex. That is one reason why the brilliant Bill Clinton nearly got impeached. That is why so many Presidential candidates have withdrawn from the race in the past when a girl friend or mistress has been discovered. We are not even talking prostitutes.

ND Tiwari is not the only politician who has been breaking the trust of India's people. There are many others. The fact that India's media has continued to shield them while conning the nation with the fodder of stings in dance bars and other seedy places, is something that is equally, if not more, disturbing than than the acts of politicians.

The private faces of politicians need to be scrutinized in great detail and compared with their public ones.
